VICTORIA -- Mitch Holmberg scored his fourth and fifth goals of the Western Hockey League season and added an assist to help the Spokane Chiefs dump the Victoria Royals 6-2 on Tuesday. Holmberg opened the scoring at 9:22 of the first period on a power play. He picked up an assist on Jeremy McIntoshs goal at 19:48 of the period, to help make it 3-1. Holmbergs second goal at 8:38 of the third period made it 5-1. Blair Oneschuk, Carter Proft and Adam Helewka also scored for Spokane (2-0-0). Logan Nelson had a power-play goal for Victoria in the first period, and Brandon Fushimi scored for the Royals in the second. Eric Williams made 26 saves for Spokane. Patrik Polivka stopped 19 of 23 shots for Victoria (1-2-0), while teammate Coleman Vollrath turned back 17 of 19 shots. AMERICANS 6 WINTERHAWKS 2 Centre Brian Williams score his first three goals of the season to power the Tri-City Americans to their first win of the season, with a 6-2 thumping of the Portland Winterhawks.
